BC - My Birthday!

I’ve celebrated my birthday in some unusual places over the years but think that I will struggle to ever repeat today’s festivities at 5100m, Everest Base Camp. 34 years old… young..!!

Everest2010

On April 3rd I will travel to Tibet via Nepal where I will begin an 8848m (29,082 ft) journey to the summit of Mount Everest via the North Ridge. The summit ‘window’ will likely be around the 3rd week of May when the normally 120+mph jet stream wind is pushed northward by the arrival of the monsoon. The entire journey will take anywhere from 60 – 70 days. The expedition is a tremendous undertaking and likely the biggest challenge – both physically and psychologically - that I will ever take on. A strict fitness regime, technical climbing and safety courses in Scotland, climbing Mera Peak in the Himalayas, cycling 7750kms across Canada in 2008, and finally a climb to Aconcagua in the Argentine Andes over Christmas 2009 have been just part of the journey. The biggest challenge now lies ahead...
